Buddhism, one of the world’s oldest religions, has a rich and varied history that stretches back thousands of years. It was founded by Siddhartha Gautama, who became known as the Buddha, or the Awakened One, in the 6th century BCE in present-day Nepal. This is the beginning of one of the most significant movements in world religious and spiritual history.
Life of the Buddha: Siddhartha Gautama was born into the royal family of the Shakya clan in the Shakya kingdom, which is now part of Nepal. According to legend, the prince was born in the early morning and quickly spoke his first words. He grows up in luxury and abundance, but soon realizes the suffering of those around him and leaves the palace to seek the path to enlightenment.
